Zenius : Live Classes

Zenius Education is a leading education technology company in Indonesia. They produce e-learning content for K-12 students, which cover education materials from primary to secondary school as well as preparation for the national exam and university entrance test.

The scope of that project was focused on creating a fun, interactive classroom experience by bringing the interaction between teacher and student closer to the offline classroom learning, whilst also taking into account the business need to make the app and web creation process more efficient and for the platform to integrate seamlessly with Zenius learning management database and digital asset management system.​

My role

Goals & Background

Our primary goals was to redesign a open learning platform for students in indonesia and provide quality learning provided by content creators at zenius. Our team’s goal was to improve the front and back-end experience for all the platform’s users - internal, brand teams and the end consumer, whilst also taking into account the business need to make the app creation process more efficient and for the platform to integrate seamlessly with Zenius learning management database and digital asset management system.

The scope of that project was focused on creating simple to use learning application for class 3 to 12.. The initial app had been live for around a year, so we were able to revisit the project, analyse data collected in that time, and see what improvements could be made before moving on to redesigning.

Process & Deliveries

Since it was been a year for earlier version of mobile app. Research began from analyzing the current mobile application. Study structure of Indonesia was new and took a while to get into everyday understanding. Competitor analysis like Raunguru, Quiziz was carried out and insight were shared to prepare new list of product requirements .

Zenius already had quite a lot of content but organizing the content which can be accessible and usable for users of varying age group was one of the key aspect towards designing the improved solution. User flows were prepared based on the insights collected. Iterations of wireframes were prepared and after collecting feedbacks final prototype was prepared which was a ongoing proces throughout the development phase.

Prototypes were then tested by user researchers with the students and collected feedbacks which led to some changes in existing user flows.

We wanted to create a hassle free learning experience for students to access zenius content, Live Classes, create and share questions & assessments and provide learning content to students by creating a lesson plan

Sculpting the Product

The initial research uncovered various areas of opportunity, such as combining classrooms, drafts concept, invitations. However, for the MVP, I kept in mind the business goals and organizational capacity and decided to focus upon some key areas, including simplifying user experience around user on-boarding, folder storage and thereby, meeting user and business goals including key engagement and user retention, with a strong focus on personalization, discoverability for what assessments and lesson plans to choose. 

Onboarding & Login

As application serves students from class 2- 12 selection and customisation of content is done at the onboarding screens itself. User can login via email, fb, twitter of apple ID.

Home Page Variations

Homepage of zenius application is updated almost everyday with banners and updated content. User can access quizes, Subjects, Ongoing video lessons, Doubt solving etc. From this Page

Organizing Content and Video Screens

Once user configures his role, class and subjects, he/she can see subjects on the home page once he clicks on it huser can see the topics and subtopic of the subject If user selects any subtopic a playlist opens up which leads to video playing screens

Assements & Quizes

When User clciks on assessments or quiz he is taken to quiz/ assessment detail page where he can se general instruction regarding that. When he is solving the assessments different color codes are used for solved unsolved and current questions. As well as right and worng questions are marked with colours when user views the solution or results

Live Classes

In live classes there are two tyes one with sessions and one a complete course. User can set reminders to notify and select time before they want to get a notification. During live class all functions of general video calls are present and. User can raise hand to ask question. There is continuous chat as well as questions below the video call
